For the last two and a half years the Administration has
ahs assured us our Southeren Border region is safe from whatever the hell is
going on in Mexico... Even if I'd been dumb enough to have believed it before,
in light of Eric Holders guns out drugs in smuggling operation, Fast and
Furious, I'be crazy to now..
Speaking of crazy or crazies, in May Homeland Security's Janet
Napolitano had this to say
EL PASO, Texas – U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano said Thursday that security on the southern U.S. border "is better now than it ever has been" and that violence from neighboring Mexico hasn't spilled over in a serious way.
Napolitano spoke at the Bridge of The Americas border crossing, after a meeting with the mayors of the border towns of El Paso, Nogales, Ariz., and Yuma, Ariz. Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sanchez and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Alan Bersin also were present
I'll bet at that moment, with all those dignitaries and
their entourages standing on the bridge, that little piece of the border was
one of the most secure places in the world, at least until they left.
The Secretary must have forgotten about Organ
Pipe Cactus National Park, and the signs warning travelers that
the part is basically closed because of Mexican Gun Runners, Drug Smugglers and
Human traffickers.. She
wasn't thinking of Robert
Krentz, an Arizona
Rancher killed by illegals. Or slain Federal Agent Jamie Zapata, whose killer she'd vowed to capture a a couple months before.... Now we know if she wanted to arrest the person ultimately responsible for Zapata's death she could do it easily at the next Cabinet Meeting Eric Holder attends..
In fairness she couldn't
have known that Arizona Sheriff Paul Babeu would call her comments an outright
lie a few weeks later.. in an interview with the Daily
Caller that had to be rescheduled because the sheriff's deputies were
engaged in a fire fight with smugglers on the day the interview was to take
place.
Yesterday morning in El Paso American's got another indication that Napolitano is is either incompetent, or a liar.

One Man Killed Just Feet From The US/Mexico Border

EL PASO, Texas -- A shooting in Juarez hits a little too close to home for Bowie High School students.
At least one high-ranking Juarez police officer was shot and killed during a massive gunfight right across the U.S./Mexico border.
A Saturday morning football practice and a volleyball scrimmage were interrupted when gunshots were heard nearby.
Bowie High School principal Jesus Chavez was at home when he got a call about the shooting. He said even though he wasn’t at the school, the school officials who were there did an excellent job getting all students inside and secure.
"Our volleyball coaches, our football coaches and our assistant principal reacted like if it was a regular school day," Chavez said.
A parent, who did not want to be identified, said at first no one really understood what was going on.
