FLOTUS - The Fourth Branch of Government

Okay, so "What's NOT so scary?"
As if the world didn't have ENOUGH Acronyms?

Just so we're all up to speed, here's a primer to get you on track for the remainder of the post AND to explain the title above:

POTUS:  President of the United States
FLOTUS:  First Lady of the United States
COTUS:  Czar of the United States (there are MANY of these)
TOTUS:  Teleprompter of the United States
CPOTUS:  Chef to the President of the United States
DPOTUS:  Dog of the President of the United States (Call him, "Bo")
HPOTUS:  Housekeeper to the President of the United States
WOTUS:  Weasel of the President of the United States (Call him, "Joe")

Everyone caught up?  Great, let's go...

'FLOTUS', yes, this would be the First Lady of the United States, has yet another 'cause' to promote.

Michelle Obama, the Fourth Branch of Government, has decided that American women should breastfeed their children until the child is roughly... 'old enough to drive'.

Yes, in an effort to reduce Childhood Obesity, Michelle Obama (and her enforcement arm, the IRS) has decided that forcing employers to provide BreastFeeding facilities to female workers is a...  'Right' for the Mother, or, perhaps, more specifically, of the 'Child'.

Senator Barack Obama said it's OKAY to let a baby die alone in a laundry closet from a botched aborion, but once they enter the tax roll, Michelle Obama will tell YOU, Mom, how to feed them.

From an article at the Daily Caller:
First lady Michelle Obama will be speaking out to remove barriers to breastfeeding, Politics Daily has learned, throwing the spotlight on nursing as a way to reduce childhood obesity.

This comes as the Obama administration in the past year has made several moves to encourage breastfeeding -- including a push for more flexible workplace rules and an Internal Revenue Service ruling on Thursday that breast pumps and other nursing supplies qualify for tax breaks.
...
Looking ahead to what she will do in the second year of "Let's Move," Mrs. Obama said: "We also want to focus on the important touch points in a child's life. And what we're learning now is that early intervention is key. Breastfeeding. Kids who are breastfed longer have a lower tendency to be obese.

"We want to get into child-care centers, day-care centers, and start talking about how -- what kind of snacks they're getting there. We want to have those conversations at an earlier level. But those are just some of the things that you'll see."
...
"And because it's important to prevent obesity early, we're also working to promote breastfeeding, especially in the black community -- where 40 percent of our babies never get breastfed at all, even in the first weeks of life, and we know that babies that are breastfed are less likely to be obese as children," she said.

Robin Schepper, executive director of "Let's Move," told Politics Daily, Mrs. Obama wants to increase breastfeeding rates but "is not telling women to breastfeed ... but wants to make it easier for moms by encouraging hospitals to change practices so after a baby is born, the baby is in the room with them."

Okay, so FLOTUS is NOT telling women to breastfeed, BUT, if you DO breastfeed, they'll give you Tax Breaks to do so.  (I'd bare my udders for a buck...  Shoot, I'd do it for loose change.)

The government figured out YEARS ago that if you incent behavior, that you get MORE of that behavior.
Consider the following:
Oh, I don't know; I'd like to think that if a Mom wants to breastfeed her child, that's kind of 'up to her'.  The Federal Government driving behavior by making 'other people's money' available to pay for Michelle Obama's pet project doesn't seem to be in the National Interest to me.

The Federal Government was given certain responsibilities under the US Constitution.  Its powers are FINITE, if something doesn't fall within the scope of the Constitution, they CAN'T do it.

But what do I know?  I have it on good authority that I was NOT breastfed by my Mom.

Yes, I was a 'Bottle Baby'.  Oh, the horror.  The shame...

But if I HAD been breastfed, I think that I would have been this kid:

But it's NOT the Federal Government's, or the IRS's decision to make -- Is it???

So as the Middle East burns, the most pressing issue in the US today is:  Checking out what Mom does with her breasts.

Yeah, the Obama Administration's FLOTUS is soooooo on target here.

Since Washington is not watching developments around the world which WILL impact our National Security, I dedicate the following lyrics, to the Obamas, the IRS, and CPOTUS...

FM - Steely Dan
Worry the bottle Mamma, it’s grapefruit wine
Kick off your high heel sneakers, it’s party time
The girls don’t seem to care what’s on
As long as it plays till dawn
Nothin’ but blues and Elvis
And somebody else’s favorite song

Give her some funked up music, she treats you nice
Feed her some hungry reggae, she’ll love you twice
The girls don’t seem to care tonight
As long as the mood is right

Fm - no static at all

Give her some funked up music she treats you nice
Feed her some hungry reggae she’ll love you twice
The girls don’t seem to care tonight
As long as the mood is right

Fm - no static at all

If you believe the Obama Administration, there's "NO static at all", but if there isn't, what's that buzzing in my head?

Hmm?
Yeah, might as well get fired up about something, right???

  1. What so scary about Michelle?.. she is a woman with POWER and really doesn't know how to use it. That is the scary part. Here she is talking about FAT when we read about dysfunctional family break downs in our communities. Our children are not #1 priority today. They are looked at as a means for the ca ching. They have no voice, no rights. All one has to do is read the headlines. Child abuse is #1 issue today. NOT FAT.

Michelle chose the FAT because it was the easiest crusade. Here she was a Health Admin. She knows the score in those ER's.

I wish someone would tell her what to where. She looks cheap sometimes.

  2. Moos, 50-60 years ago (back when we were babies) a few companies had "sold" baby formula to the Modern American Woman. With the help of TV and a few doctors they convinced mothers that beast feeding was messy, dirty, obscene and bad for the baby. Anything that resembled public nudity was frowned upon

Then along came the hippies... they couldn't afford formula and were nowhere near as shy as their mothers and in some cases even their big sisters had been. New studies overturned the results of the ones formula companies had paid for a few years before.

I'm sure the formulas have impoved some, and don't think they're likely do "Hurt" baby. They will hurt the wallet

Mommy has her choice of giving baby free natural food, or spending a couple thousand dollars a year buying formula. For a lot of us that's enough incentive without any tax break.

  3. Swan, it's been a while, good to see you here again..

Not much of an expert on women's clothes, so I'll take your word she might look cheap from time to time.. Even so, from what I hear, she's one heck of an expensive date

  4. Black Swan, I hadn't thought about WHY the focus on 'Fat' before, but I believe that you've nailed it.

After all, being 'Fat' is easy to identify (all you need is a shiny surface). AND what better way to chide Americans for the 'Excesses' in their lives? We just have too much. If only there were someone here who could take some of our 'much' away from us?

Oops, now the rest of the puzzle slides together...

Thanks for the comment, have a great day.

    Grumpy,

Michelle Obama 'an expensive date'? Nah, not as long as it's not YOUR money.

    See you folks!

  5. Sure wish she would campaign against community organizers and acorns underfoot.

Haven't heard much lately about the WH veggie garden. I guess the ILLEGAL gardeners have to remain hidden.

  6. When I was trying everything to quit smoking, a doctor told me that I had a mouth fetish and needed a cigarette to put in my mouth. He suggested that I had not been nursed enough or had been nursed too long. Who knows maybe he was right.

  7. USMC, Last time I saw the WH Veggie Garden it was under about 12" of snow. Although, given the incredible SKILLS of POTUS, I have no doubt that he COULD make Green Beans sprout in the dead of Winter.

    Yeah, he's THAT cool...

  9. Keep in mind that about 2 years ago the Center for Disease Control and World Health Organization changed the definition of obese. This change in the definition resulted in far more "obesity" in the world than any other factor.

Mr. Cow. U. R. a great writer. You make me laugh louder than a cow pissing on a flat rock. You're sense of humor is utterly bovine. Speaking of rump roasts. . .oh never mind.

Michelle should help her hubby trim the budget and B.Swan, neither one of them should wear "Mommy Pants" (or Shorts for that matter). Maybe a Western Saddle. Fat kids IS child abuse! Speaking of trim. . .oh never mind.

Michelle is not scary (except on a bad hair day). B.O. isn't scary, unless he is thinking.

Marine: The POTUS a POTHEAD? I guess he claimed to be in his books. Far Out!

GPABUD: Smoke 'em if ya got 'em. Nothin has killed you yet.

Michelle. . .Keep it Simple, Talk to Hillary more often. Find out where Barry hides his smokes and where he smokes' em.

  13. Ed, good to see you here.. away from FT. As you've noticed, the FT Blog Page seems to have gone to the dogs since Gannett made the changes.

  14. Just B. Asking, Speaking of 'Moving the Bar', I heard a while back that the average American household 'BELOW the Poverty Line' has 1.5 Televisions.

Using this measurement, I'm living mere percentage points above 'poverty'.

When do I get my check???

AND, do they pay for cable when you get the 'check'???
