Tuscan Victims

The various media outlets are now reporting 18 people were shot at a "Congress on your Corner' event at a Safeway Grocery Store in Tuscan Arizona Saturday January 8th.  Eighteen were wounded, at last check, five of those including US Congressional Representative Gabriel Gifford.  Six of wounded have died. The killer, Jared Loughner, was taken down and held for authorities by bystanders.
This is what we know about so far about the people who lost their lives, I have not yet been able to find out the names of the other three, I will add that information as it becomes available.



9-year-old Christina Taylor Green of Tucson. A neighbor was going to the Giffords event and invited Christina along because she thought she would enjoy it.  Christina had just been elected to the student council at her school. The event, held outside a Safeway supermarket north of Tucson, was an opportunity for constituents to meet Giffords and talk about any concerns they had related to the federal government.  Christina was involved in many activities, from ballet to baseball.




Gabe Zimmerman  was Rep Gifford's director of community outreach and had organized the “Congress on your Corner” event were he was killed.  Zimmerman had been with Gifford since the beginning of her Congressional Career, he was 30 and engaged to be married.








U.S. District Judge John Roll, the chief judge for the District of Arizona was 64, he'd stopped by to Hi to his friend Gaby Gifford,  Roll was appointed by President H. W. Bush in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Maureen, three sons and five grandchildren.




Dorwin Stoddard, 76, a pastor at Mountain Ave. Church of Christ  He performed maintenance work at the church and spent his summers traveling, according to the Arizona Daily Star. Stoddard’s wife, Mavy, suffered three gunshot wounds to her legs and is in stable condition
