Shooting gets tangled up in rhetoric debate

The blame game sorta explained.  Get it straight, Jared Loughner wasthe one that commited murder., the gun didn't do it, Sarah Palin didn't do it, I suppose someone might figure out a way to Dick Cheney involved before it's over.

Just because you think someone suggested you do something criminal is no reason to do it.

  1. I've read people's comments elsewhere as they say, "Palin's comment was out of line".

IMHO, Palin's comment was months ago and was not inciting violence because it is a common phrase that is used by many people --- Dems., Repubs., everyone --- to say that they want to focus on that area, or target a specific goal. The term is not violent. It's the same as saying, "I'm targeting Merritt Island for my house hunt," or "I'm targeting six o'clock to be finished with my studies so I can get ready for the party", or "I'm targeting my hips and thighs for most of my weight loss." It's a common phrase and it was used way before Loughner shot Gifford, et al.

If we have to police our words with an eye toward ANYTHING that ANYONE could take amiss, or read something into, or make something out of, or take as a sign... ETC., ETC., ETC., then NONE of us will EVER say ANYTHING again!

Get off the idea that something I said or something Palin said or something anyone said MADE someone do "X". Unless that someone had a gun pointed at his/her head, then there's no reason to believe that WORDS can MAKE someone do something.

Unless you want to never write, say, sign, or text anything ever again, I'd say this is complete nonsense to even THINK this crapolla.

  2. Agreed SCC. Stray words from people you don't know don't turn someone into a mass murder..

  5. 24.110.10.249 Earthlink,

Strange how that number popped into my head. Be willing to bet a quick subpoena would show FT is very familiar with the number also.

They never delete anything, just hide it from view

  8. anonymous still seems peeved. I was also upset when I heard about the attempted assassinations of President's Ford and Reagan. I was also disgusted when I heard that the Weather Underground had bombed recruiting stations and the Pentagon.

  14. "ANONYMOUS" isn't thinking straight. Yes, advertising works: but it only works IF YOU SEE IT! According to his friends, Loughren was a leftie and was not a Palin fan. Why would he surf her site and get inspriation or instruction from Palin? He surfed the sites of his chosen satanic organizations, heavy metal groups, etc. He was obsessed with Giffords before Palin was on the national scene, contacting Giffords and stalking her since 2007. How can Palin be held responsible for the actions of someone who was already obsessed before Palin appeared on the national scene?

The fact is, holding anyone on the right responsible for the nutcase's actions is forty-eight cards short of a full deck and it's way too convenient for those on the wrong side (Dems., progressives, all lefties) to cry "Wolf! Wolf" whenever anything happens that they can point a finger. Problem with their "Wolf! Wolf" is that 99.9% of the time, it's their side -- the wrong side -- being the wolf!
