Bagel Joe's

Sometime between six and nine every morning I go out for coffee and something to put into my stomach. There's half a dozen places nearby that have excellent food and decent coffee, but at least five days out of seven, I'll head to the Publix Shopping Center at the intersection of Wickham and Lake Washington Rds here in Melbourne. Bagel Joe's is located at the East End off the shopping center, a couple doors down from Beef O'Brady's.

The place has the best coffee I've found anywhere in Melbourne. There's always a cup waiting for me as soon as I walk in the door. Joe always has a great assortment of bagels..as well as dozen spreads, personally, I'm not big on bagels. It's not a problem, because he also has three kinds of Kaiser Rolls, Monster Croissants and Bialys. If you've never tried a baily before I'd suggest it.. with Taylor Ham, or pastrami, corned beef, salami or honey ham on your egg and cheese sandwich. Yes, for you folks who moved down from New Jersey, they know what Taylor Ham is, and they have it..

If you want something a little lighter, try the muffins, Joe always has Banana nut, chocolate chip and blueberry, at the moment he's also making pumpkin.. those are really good. Since it's a holiday weekend and the kids are home form school.. spoil them a little, give 'em one of Joe's cookies for breakfast.. teenage boys might need two, but one will do the job for most normal people.. the things are huge.

His lunch sandwiches are worth going out of your way for... If I was still working and had to do a box lunch presentation, or make sure there was something to eat at an extended meeting, I'd give Bagel Joe's a call.  He can put together a package that will satisfy everyone attending, from the biggest meat eater, to the pickiest vegatarian, without breaking the budget

It takes more than great food to make a place worth a second visit.  The first time I was there I was impressed more by the two young women that run the place for Joe than anything else.  One of the two,  either Heather or Kat is always there, on busy days you'll find both.  It takes more than coffee to make an old grump like me smile in the morning.. I've never left Joe's feeling Grumpy, come to think of it, I've never seen anyone else leave looking Grumpy either.  They manage to make parting with money fun...

I've never been to Bagel Joes other location at 780 East, Merritt Island Causeway on Merritt Island, but I'd bet the place is just as good...  You can get all the contact information at Bagel Joe's Website;

In case you're wondering.. this isn't a paid advertisement.. between now and Christmas I've asked my authors and members to write posts about local businesses where they enjoy spending their money...
