Not This Time

I was checking a link to an Arizona illegal alien story yesterday in the Examiner yesterday and saw another headline that read;

Los Zetas drug cartel seizes 2 U.S. ranches in Texas
July 24, 11:18 AMSan Diego County Political Buzz ExaminerKimberly Dvorak

This doesn't sound good, that it could happen is not surprising, we've already closed down a national park because of the situation. The Examiner was running the story, they generally examine before they report so I took a look at the story which read in part..

"In what could be deemed an act of war against the sovereign borders of the United States, Mexican drug cartels have seized control of at least two American ranches inside the U.S. territory near Laredo, Texas.

 Two sources inside the Laredo Police Department confirmed the incident is unfolding and they would continue to coordinate with U.S. Border Patrol today. “We consider this an act of war,” said one police officer on the ground near the scene. There is a news blackout of this incident at this time and the sources inside Laredo PD spoke on the condition of anonymity.

 Word broke late last night that Laredo police have requested help from the federal government regarding the incursion by the Los Zetas. It appears that the ranch owners have escaped without incident but their ranches remain in the hands of the blood thirsty cartels.

 Laredo Border Patrol is conducting aerial surveillance over the ranches to determine the best way to regain control of the U.S. ranches, according to the Laredo Police"

The incident has been confirmed by unnamed sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity. No branch of government tells people what's going on anymore. It's always leaked to the public by anonymous spokespeople speaking on the condition anonymity because they aren't authorized to speak. I get annoyed by the anonymity because we know the anonymous source is saying just what they've been authorized to say. Most of the time anyway.

A quick check of the net showed a number of bloggers were reporting the story.. but nothing official one way or the other. That would seem reasonable If there was a news blackout. I wasn't sold.. A little more looking and in the "Laredo Morning Times" I found this..

Officials know nothing of rumored Zeta standoff on Mines Road

So the very reasonable question your asking is why would I bring up a story that isn't? The answer is simple;

A few months ago Obama gave a speech about how people were being flooded by misinformation on the web... and how we should ignore blogs in favor of facts presented by the legitimate media, like his Journolist friends. Now he's asking lefty bloggers to come to his aid for the November elections. For once I'll agree with Obama, we do need to be careful about believing what we see on the Internet

The other reason; unless we shut down that border, the Mexican gang wars will hit our side. It's only a mater of time.   The gang have held their own against the Mexican Army.  The otherday I read a Mecian boast that since 2006 they've killed or arrested something like 1600 of the insurgents.. Maybe so but the insurgents are still waging war against the army, and 1600 bad guys killed or captured dosen't stack up to well against the 26,000 killed by the gangs along the border in the last four years.

Many members of the Los Zetas Cartel are supposed to be former Mexican Army Special Ops soldiers, well armed and enough manpower to fight aa Army.  How are local sheriff's departments and handful of Border Patrol agents supposed to take them on?

We have already effectively surrendered US Soil to the gangs... spend a few minutes and watch this video.  Some of you have probably seen it elsewhere, but it's still worth watching again.

Ronald Reagan once said, "A Country without borders is no country."  We should all keep that in mind.  We've already done the "Amnesty First- Think About Closing  the Border Later" dog and pony show.  It didn't work, now it's time for the  "Close the Border, Think About Amensty Later" routine.

  1. Important to be clear that this story has been discredited. Local officials and local law enforcement have been interviewed and said it is not true. Some sites have stated that they initially believed their sources and no find that the information was incorrect. Having said that, there is an important story here and largely missed for too long. The drug cartel is running wild.
    "EDITOR'S NOTE — This is one in an occasional series of reports by The Associated Press examining why — four decades and $1 trillion after Richard Nixon declared war on drugs — the U.S. and Mexico continue to fight a losing battle.

    The judicial void is a key reason why Mexican cartels continue to deliver tons of marijuana, methamphetamines, heroin and cocaine onto U.S. streets.
    "It in effect gives them impunity," U.S. Ambassador Carlos Pascual told the AP, "and allows them to be able to function in ways that can extend themselves into the United States."

    We are the population hungry for the commodity - tons of marijuana, methamphetamines, heroin and cocaine. Time to dry it up by legalizing the drugs in a controlled fashion, something like Holland and something like the days of prohibition. We'd save a lot of money instead of throwing it into a pit. I say....regulate it, tax it, and dry up the cartel's business. Nothing else has worked.

  2. We should surrender to drugs and illegals?

    No, I'm more of the opinion we should take a Devils Island approach to the hard drug dealers.. and the American gangs they tend to be associated with.. and a harder position than on the Mexican gang menbers caught inside our country.

    We've been playing catch and release liberal inspired social games since Nixon Declared Ear on Drugs... that's the problem.

  3. Surrender? Who said surrender? We need to dry up the cartel and dry it up. No more throwing more money at this problem with the same strategies. They aren't working. The money thrown at this should be better invested.

    Like prohibition, let's look at what worked and didn't work at that time. Why not? Unless corruption is more widespread than people wish to consider.

  4. Another "Scare the white folks scam" before the elections straight from the foxes Teabaqgger mouth... unbalanced unfair and never verified for truth contents. And plenty of very willing drones like Gruppy ready to pass along every word Fox says like it comes from his God Almighty, And that maybe true (for him and his ilk)
