What is an American? Part IV

The Committee for Public Safety

Any law which violates the inalienable rights of man is essentially unjust and tyrannical; it is not a law at all. - A Leader of the French Revolution*

Revolutions are dangerous things.  Although the goals may be admirable, often times the result is far from what those goals were.  The French Revolution is a case in point.  Today it would have been called a popular uprising.  The peasants rising up against an oppressive King....storming the castle and celebrating freedom.  That is how it should have been, but something went terribly wrong.

  1. Good stuff Capt. Thought provoking.

  2. "To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles."

    William Shakespeare, "Hamlet"

  3. Thanks....and gave me an idea that forced a rewrite of part V. Thanks
