You can't read this if

That's right,  you can't read this if you work for the government, or you think you'd like to work for the government.

If Americans don't see it, read it and pretend they don't know about, it won't matter, seems to be the Administration's strangest tactic in the WikiLeaks Cyber War.  It's a straightforward tactic, even if it's completely unrealistic;  The Government is telling Federal Employees if they read the WikiLeaked documents they are in violation of the law and placing their jobs at risk. This from the Office of Management and Budget in the White House

The recent disclosure of U.S. Government documents by WikiLeaks has resulted in damage to our national security. Federal agencies collectively, and each federal employee and contractor individually, are obligated to protect classified information pursuant to all applicable laws, as well as to protect the integrity of government information technology systems. It is a function of agency leadership to establish a vigilant climate that underscores the critical importance of the existing prohibitions, restrictions, and requirements regarding the safeguarding of the classified information.

Accordingly, agencies are requested immediately to send a notice to all agency employees and contractors reminding them of their obligations to safeguard classified information. A model notice, for use or adaptation by each agency, is attached to this memorandum. Agencies are responsible for communicating this notice promptly to their employees and contractors.

If an agency has a legitimate need for personnel to access classified information on publicly available websites, the agency head shall ensure that such access is managed in a manner that minimizes risk to government information technology systems and adheres to established requirements.

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance.

I wonder if that means that Government Employees can't watch the news on TV or read the newspapers or listen to the conversations around them after work while they're having a drink at their favorite tavern.  This might come as a shock to the White House but people all over the world..are following the story.... If a person owns a radio, TV, Computer or reads a newspaper, they know about the story and what the leaked documents say...

Although now the State Department is denying it, from appearances it seems the State Department may have made an "unofficial" attempt to prevent college students from reading the documents, . This is a release from Columbia University on November 30th;

Subject: Wikileaks - Advice from an alum

To: "Office of Career Services (OCS)"

Hi students,

We received a call today from a SIPA alumnus who is working at the State Department. He asked us to pass along the following information to anyone who will be applying for jobs in the federal government, since all would require a background investigation and in some instances a security clearance.

The documents released during the past few months through Wikileaks are still considered classified documents. He recommends that you DO NOT post links to these documents nor make comments on social media sites such as Facebook or through Twitter. Engaging in these activities would call into question your ability to deal with confidential information, which is part of most positions with the federal government.

Regards,

Office of Career Services
In spite of the State Department denials according to a CNN article this morning titled Will reading WikiLeaks cost students jobs with the federal government? colleges are warning students that posting comments about the WikiLeaks releases could jeopardize their chance for being hired by the government,

In short the warning is..If you want a career in government trying to figure out what the rest of the world is thinking... they won't be eligible for the jobs if they make the mistake of reading what the rest of the world is reading.  I guess it makes perfect sense if you're part of the "Most Transparent Administration in History"  An Administration that daily leaks information with a disclaimer

"The information was released by a White House spokesperson who spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak on the subject."

This is a no win situation for everyone.

What Wikileaks has done is endanger the ability of the United States to engage in the behind the scenes negotiations and conversations that make cooperation between governments possible,  No one including governments confide in people who can't keep a secret.

The information has been released and published.  The Administration is acting like a small town, one church minister the town gossip caught cheating of his wife.  "If you listen to what she's saying about me you'll burn in Hell".  Hoping people are more afraid hell than the gossip.  If he hadn't been cheating, it wouldn't matter.  If the Administration had protected our secrets, WikiLeaks wouldn't matter.

  2. There are 3 sides to every story my friend. Your side, my side and the truth. The Terrorist in the spiritual realm, the physical realm and not the cyber realm have used our own words and freedoms against us. It is very hard to argue with our own beliefs, words and secrets that have been thrown in our faces. We must adapt and overcome our short comings and untruths because the truth will march on and the truth will find us out and the truth will set us free, BUT FIRST IT WILL PISS US OFF? Right? Who said that?? Wasn't me. Is it true? I don't know.

Elvis has left the building and the Arabs have left Afghanistan. Our Liberties have been used against us in an attempt to take them away from us.

Wikileaks is a cyber-Pearl Harbor. They have wakened a drugged and sleeping giant. Just in time.

    SOL-BROTHER.

Typo above. I meant to say "The terrorists have attacked us in the spiritual realm, in the physical realm and NOW the cyber realm".

  5. Little silly isn't it Rashid..

Every Taliban, Al Qaeda, Soviet, Chinese and Russian agent in the world has access. The Chinses are busy right now figuring out how to use the stuff in a trade war...

3000000 Government Employees have. maybe had by now access to the stuff... now that it's been compromised, Americans aren't supposed to know anything about it.

  6. SOL... I haven't shot pool in decades... but as long as you can't find your glasses... I'm game.

Not sure whether we were a sleeping giant or a drunk one, possibly both? Regardless, we spend billions of dollars a year on security... then give millions of people a way to bipass it..

  7. Two historical blunders that ended up having little effect on the outcome of the battle.

Lee had given his orders for the the invasion of the north to a subordinate. That man lost the orders. McClellan, being the over cautious type he was delayed taking action...when he did attack at Antietam...Lee had learned that McClellan had the plans, and had reinfoced his army.

Though he defeated the McClellan, he was forced to retreat back to Virginia. Lincoln used this victory to issue the Emancipation Proclomation, and the South was now on poor diplomatic footing with their major suppliers in Europe.

The Second was the German invasion of France in WWII. Hitlers plan was to repeat the attack on the Ardennes that had been first used in WWI...and bypassing the Maginot Line. His plans had been intercepted by accident by the French...Both the French and British felt is was a trick and ignored the danger.

The Allies believed that any bypass of the Maginot line could easily be cut off...they forgot technology made the Maginot line..worthless.

Although we have seen many documents that are probably what they say they are...our enemys can not be sure. Hopefully, by this time our operatives, and agents have made the changes to counter this danger.

    I say hopefully...with a fingers crossed.

  8. Capt.. my fingers are crossed that out of 3,000,000 Manning was the smartest and least loyal... Manning wanted volumne, not specifics. Ft Hood taught us, or should have there is a high probability we have a SMALL number of people in our military with other allegences.

If a damned 21 year old PFC poking and hoping could pull this off, I don't want to think about what someone older, smarter, better trained and with more military experiance could get his hands on.

  9. Personally, I don't believe that it was a 21 yr. old who had all that info released. I think it was a combined effort of people (high muckety-mucks) within the administration who released all of that info. obamination did not like having Clintoon as his Sec. of State. Tell me he wouldn't do anything to get rid of her because he feels her a threat for his next presidential bid. obamination had this info leaked to embarrass Clintoon. Now she'll disappear (she has already stated she wants nothing more to do with politics) and he won't have to worry about a knife in his back. Two birds, one stone.

  10. Space Coast.... I wouldn't rule much of anything out, Obama is in worse shape politically than any President I can recall.

Fiscal and Social Tea Party Conservitives strongly dislike him. The rest of more Right leaning people tend to be Republicans..

Moderate Democrats liked Hillary better to begin with...The far left is looking for a benveolent dictator...

In a Washington Post article yesterday Colbert King threatened the Democrats with the lose of the back vote if they didn't all become good little Obamaites again..

A split like that in the democratic party could earn Obama two challengers for the nomination.. Billary would win.
