More Insanity

Thing have changed so fast that my Insanity Blog was outdated almost as soon as I published it, a few minutes after I added the update it was obsolete.  I've returned that blog to the quote file and replaced it with this

Americans might want to look a little closer at whats really behind the 51 Park Ave Mosque, known to most of us as the Ground Zero Mosque.  So much media noise has been centered around the Mosque and Pastor Terry Jones Qur'an Burning that is, isn't might be scheduled  for Saturday that some other news slipped by almost unnoticed.

Before I get into why Jones backed of and then decided to reconsider burning the Qur'ans I'm going to toss out a question.  Is it possible the Mosque at Ground Zero as it's commonly called isn't much more than a scheme that if goes as planned would net the developers a great deal of publicity with an apparent gesture of good will, and an easy 15 or 20 million dollars?

I'll get back to that,

As of this moment , as far as I know the Qur'an burning at the Dove Outreach Center is off, it would not surprise me at all to find out in the next few hours, it was back on.  At a press conference Thursday  Rev. Jones and Imam Muhammad Musri, President of the Islamic Society of Florida. announced an agreement had been reached, the Mosque would be moved and the planned Book Burning was off.  If you watch the video, and listen carefully Iman Musri came close, but he never actually said the Mosque would be moved.  He also said nothing that in any way contradicted Rev. Jones' statement that it would  be moved.

For people that don't have time to watch the nine minute video here's the short version of what Jones said  from Swamp Gas

The Rev. Terry Jones, pastor at a small Gainesville church that planned to burn copies of the Quran on Saturday, announced Thursday afternoon that the book-burning has been canceled because a mosque will not be built near the site of terrorist attacks in New York.

The plan to burn the holy book of Islam prompted widespread criticism in the US and around the world along with concerns about possible violence in retaliation against American troops and others.

Jones characterized the decision, which was announced at a 5 p.m. press conference, as a sign from God as a result of prayer.

He said that "our thought was the American people do not as a whole want the mosque at the Ground Zero location … that if they were willing to either cancel the mosque at the Ground Zero location or if they were willing to move it away form that location, we should consider that a sign from God."

Jones said he plans to fly up to New York on Saturday and meet with Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, who is planning the Islamic center in New York.

Imam Muhammad Musri, the head of the Islamic Society of Central Florida, also spoke with the media at Dove World on Thursday afternoon. The imam said he would be flying to New York with Jones to talk with the imam and talk about moving the mosque.

It was not immediately clear that Rauf had definitely agreed to put the planned Islamic center at a different location.

Shortly after the Press conference, but not during it, Imam Musri announced that  Reverend Jones Had Stretched his words.

"I think there was no confusion to begin with. When we stepped out of the church, we had an agreement to meet in New York,” Musri said. He added that Jones “said his main reason for stopping the event was that it would endanger the troops overseas, Americans traveling abroad and others around the world.”

Musri said he told the pastor “that I personally believe the mosque should not be there, and I will do everything in my power to make sure it is moved,” Musri said. “But there is not any offer from there (New York) that it will be moved. All we have agreed to is a meeting, and I think we would all like to see a peaceful resolution.”

Musri said Thursday night that he still plans to go ahead with the meeting Saturday."

Don't go away, it gets better, during an interview with Soledad O'Brien on CNN Iman Rauf had this to say;

A day earlier in New York, the Islamic center project leader, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, said in a statement that he was glad Jones had backed down but that he had spoken to neither the pastor nor Musri.

“We are not going to toy with our religion or any other. Nor are we going to barter,” Rauf said. “We are here to extend our hands to build peace and harmony.”

Okay, so t There is no meeting planned, there is a meeting planned, maybe we're just going to fly to New York to visit the World Trade Center Site,  Hmm;  better make that for a cup of coffee  The Mosque Can't be moved without staring a Holy War..    Well, maybe not,  there might be a way around that, if the Price Is Right.  Believe it or not the proposed location for the Mosque is for Sale

AP Exclusive: Backers of NYC mosque appear divided

NEW YORK (AP) — The group of Muslims planning to build a 13-story Islamic center and mosque near ground zero appears plagued by divisions that raise questions about the future of the project, with one major investor saying he is prepared to sell some or all of the site if the price is right.

Hisham Elzanaty, an Egyptian-born businessman who says he provided a majority of the financing to gain control over the two buildings where the center would be built, told The Associated Press this week that while he supports the concept, he needs to turn a profit.

He said one of the buildings is worth millions if it is redeveloped, and he intends to seize the opportunity. He said he would like to see the other building turned into a mosque, but if his community doesn’t come forward with enough cash for him to break even, he will turn it over to someone else.

“I’m a businessman. This was a mere business transaction for me,” said Elzanaty,

Donald Trump, made the offer, and was turned down cold, seems Elzanaty wants to make a big profit

NY mosque investor declines Trump's buyout offer

By DAVID B. CARUSO, Associated Press Writer David B. Caruso, Associated Press Writer – Thu Sep 9, 10:34 pm ETMeantime, tomorrow is September 11th and Imams all over the world are using the Mosque and the Bible Burning to stir the pot.

NEW YORK – Donald Trump offered Thursday to buy out a major investor in the real estate partnership that controls the site near ground zero where a Muslim group wants to build a 13-story Islamic center and mosque.

The offer, though, fell flat nearly instantly.

"This is just a cheap attempt to get publicity and get in the limelight," said Wolodymyr Starosolsky, a lawyer for the investor, Hisham Elzanaty.

In a letter released Thursday by Trump's publicist, the real estate investor told Elzanaty that he would buy his stake in the lower Manhattan building for 25 percent more than whatever he paid.

"I am making this offer as a resident of New York and citizen of the United States, not because I think the location is a spectacular one (because it is not), but because it will end a very serious, inflammatory, and highly divisive situation that is destined, in my opinion, to only get worse," the letter said.

So someone, tell me what they think is going on.  Are the developers Honest men of God and missionaries that really believe in what they are doing?   It's been anticipated that someone would react to Mosque in a way that would inflame all of Islam, was that the purpose?  Is there a possibility that they believed they could use the location and the threat of violence to make a ton of money?  You tell me.

  1. Rauf is so insincere that it is impossible to tell whether he loves Allah or money the most.BTW. I hate it when non-Americans and ant-Christians lecture us on how Americans and Christians should behave.

  2. View islam as more of a Political hate group than a religion. More like the KKK, Weather Underground, and Black Panthers than any religion I have ever heard of. Thinking Wikkin and those snake charmers in WV are more closely tied to religion.

Wonder if any religion burned "The Clansman" by Thomas Dixon back in the early 20th Century.
