July 29 Immigration Protest Planned

The Arizona law intended to try and slow down the influx of illegal aliens who are infiltrating the US across Arizona's borders goes into effect  July 29.  This will happen unless the Justice Department now joined with the SEIU. ACLU and some others manage to get a Federal Court Injunction to prevent it.

I can understand the ACLU and Erick Holder, they're part of the political class.. That elite group of influential politicians and policy makers who steer the Country's direction..   Overall, they think they're doing a great job.  A quick check of almost any poll about Congressional Job Approval.. or the Direction the Country is Headed, shows the rest of us think they're a bit out of touch with reality.  But what about the SEIU, I had to wonder why they are spending their members money to fight Arizona?    Never mind, got it figured out, I just looked at some of the links of partners promoting;

National Week against criminalization!

(part of Alto Arizona's Summer of Human Rights.)

STOP SB 1070! STOP 287g! STOP Arpaio!

From Selma to Phoenix, From Civil Rights to Human Rights, and the Rights of Mother Earth

You can read all about it by following this link;

http://www.altoarizona.com/events.html#July29Actions

If you read the link, you know that Alto Arizona plans  massive demonstrations against Arizona;s new law..  If you went into it a little deeper, you find that some of the other organizations behind the demonstration have links to Organized Labor.  That's when it dawned on me that while employers can't hire Illegal Aliens, there's no law against Labor Unions collecting dues from them..

One of the other organizations caused a flashback..   I thought time had left this group little more than an minor, but ugly,. footnote in history books.  I was wrong SDS, Students for a Democratic Society.. seem to be alive and well.. Yep;  Believe it or not, the same group that gave us the Weathermen, Bill Ayers and  bombings at the US Capitol, Pentagon and NYC Police Headquarters are still with us.  Npw they're busy supporting Obama and illegals.. This is what the Gainesville Florida Chapter has to say for themselves;

What is SDS?
Gainesville, FL SDS
Gainesville, FL, United States

Students for a Democratic Society is a radical, multi-issue student and youth organization working to build power in our schools and communities. We are entirely student and youth-led and have over 100 active chapters in high schools, colleges, universities, and cities all over the country.
 http://sdsgainesville.blogspot.com/

"a radical, multi-issue student and youth organization working to build power in our schools and communities. "Working to build power", with their history, that's a scary thought.   I noticed they didn't say who they were working to build power for, at least not on their home page. With their past, that's cause for concern. (Note to self, that Build Power sounds familiar, I think I heard it recently from a Florida Today Poster justifing his illegal removal of posts made by people he didn't agree with).

There are a number of foreign based organizations, I wasn't aware that a State, a part of the United States, had to get a world consensus to pass or enforce their laws, within their borders..  There are a number of groups that I suspect are made up almost entirely of illegals.. although I can't confirm that.   Some of the groups appeared to more than a little socialist. (communist?). Another, Sociologists without Borders seems to believe that the richer nations, particularly the United States should open their borders, unconditionally, to anyone..  The group touts itself as concerned sociologists, but the groups president Judith Blau lists no degrees next to her signature.  Some of the other organizations are the usual collection of lefty groups that will demonstrate for any cause liberal or Obama; Code Pink, Some California Buddhist Peace Group and FAIR.

According to Alto Arizona the protesters are not to carry any ID.  Might be a good day for seat-belt and DUI check points

In Arizona, protesters are told to target;

•ICE Headquarters
•Wells Fargo building/Joe Arpaio's office
•Detention Centers
•Jails
•Arizona State Capitol
•Areas related to Russell Pearce, Joe Arpaio and Jan Brewer

•Boycott Targets:

◦Diamondbacks
◦Fiesta Bowl
•School Districts who have not publically stated that they will not comply
•Police Jurisdictions who have not publically stated that they will not comply
•Cities and towns who have not publically stated that they will not comply

People with no legal right to be here, believe they have the right to boycott and harass legitimate American government agencies and business that don't disobey the law.. That's Nice.  We've learned that the pro illegal groups can always find a million or so illegals and a bunch of Obamaites for theses event's, so you might want to keep the date in mind when making your plans for July 29th.  Since the illegals want to push another boycott against Arizona.. and California started all the boycott nonsense;

In my opinion California wine has suddenly started tasting very sour compared to domestic wines from other states.  I've also heard Arizona has some excellent local breweries that are starting produce beer in commercial quantities, and put Americans back to work.  The next time I buy beer, I'm going to ask the store carries any of the Arizona brands. I'm also going to send an email to my Senator and Representative in the State Legislature, suggesting that at a minimum, he sponsor or cosponsor a resolution condemning California's actions and  encouraging voluntary a boycott of California Products.

One last thing... I happened to read this earlier in the Tuscon  Citizen.  It's tribute to an Arizona Rancher, who died being a good Samaritan.  The story has some humours insights into Rob Krentz's personality.  It's worth the read.

The story of Rob Krentz, rancher

Ed. Note: Cowboy author Jim Olson submitted this story about Rob Krentz,

  1. It was just a matter of time before the SDS reared its ugly head. Surprised they managed to remain under the radar throughout 2008.

  2. It's been so long sine I'd heard them mentioned, I thought they were gone.

  3. I'd just like to say that any Mexican who walks across the Organ Pipe Cactus and Cabeza Prieta deserts deserves to stay, because he/she is one tough MF... I walked that desert once in my youth and it almost killed me -- the US doesn't get any hotter or more unforgiving than that stretch of desert. We could use citizens with that kind of fortitude...maybe we could arrange a trade, send them Glenn Beck or something...

  4. Idiot, I never know what you're going to say.. but it usually has some merit. I've heard a several younger Americans on construction sites (and other places) whine about not being able to work with the Mexicans.. Because; "they work too hard".

    One of 'em was dating my youngest daughter and made the mistake of saying it in my house. I know a little about the Marine, Bud and the other Grump.... at 19 years old, we might have been hurting every night for a few weeks, until we toughened up. Quiting and crying about it, wasn't happening.

    I was hoping you'd find your way here.. I want to keep this balanced, rational liberals are hard to find.

    Marine, her eyes are younger than yours, so she's probably a better shot

  6. SCC; I've known Idiot a long time, we've spen a lot of hours debating, she once told that she was a "little left of Lenin". Socially and environmentally she is. Fiscally, she's damn near as conservative as I am.

    I'd love to give her control of the States Education System with a "No questions asked, do what you want" free hand. Schools would be safer and standards high, community colleges wouldn't need remedial courses. Violent or disruptive kids, unteachable kids, extraneous bureaucratic/jobs positions and non productive employees would all vanish.

    She might be the only Progressive Liberal I know that understands small and medium size business.. she has one, Believe it or not, the "Right to Bear and Keep Arms doesn't bother her at all.

    Yeah.. she's a liberal, but we all have little personality quirks. At least Idiot knows when to get off the soap box, onto a bar stool and buy the people she's debating a beer.

  7. Illegals: if the employers were required to prove by the I-9 form to show any employee was authorized to work in the US, and they were penalized according (as has been the law for years), many illegals would be discovered and could be deported. Of course, you've got the ones with falsified documents, but as many years as I had to work with I-9 forms, I never had to deal with documents I thought were fake. And my employer keeps copies of all documents used to the satisfy the I-9 requirements.

  8. Idoit; SCC, is as socially conservative as you are liberal, If you're a little like Lenin she's a bit like Goldwater (Frankly we'd have been better off with him instead of LBJ) Like all of us she's seen freedoms we once took for granted erode over her lifetime, being polite, it bothers her... It bothers the hell out of me, and everyone else who's posted here so far.

    The decline in the quality (if not quantity) of pubic education led her to home school her children. I've got a hunch she was a tough teacher.. and she didn't have to worry about lawsuits from whiny parents. She only did it sucessfully an good indication of her character and determination. She didn't take her kids out of school so she could sleep late or avoid school issues, she did it because she could do a better job.

    She has a tendency to come out with all guns firing.. I found that out the first time we talked.. Since then I've gotten to know her a little, she laughs easily and has a great personality.. Like you she's smart and opinionated.. and a terrific person.

  9. Old Lady, several years ago, when she was in college, oldest daughter knew an illegal from Ecuador. He got nailed a couple times in Maryland for drunk driving and a number of other offenses.. Most Americans would have been in a ton of trouble... but Most Americans can't get their hands on a new drivers license as needed

  10. SCC... Really?! What are we, six? Actually, I have BWBW to thank for my screen name. I was so annoyed when I read one of his posts that I used the thought that was passing through my head at the time to give myself a moniker :-)

    Grumpy, I'm totally serious when I tell you that I will hire a Mexican or a Guatemalan over a gringo any day of the week. Of all the subs I use, only my painter is a gringo -- he's a drunk who's always 3 days late and holds everyone up, but he just happens to be a darn good painter and I'm a little OCD about straight lines and details.

    Have any of you been paying attention to what the Obama administration is doing concerning hiring of illegals? I think it's genius. He's got auditing teams quietly auditing businesses to determine how many illegals they hire. Then the business is forced to pay hefty fines and to fire all the illegals on their payroll. So it brings in revenue and serves as a deterrent to other businesses. The business then has to replace the illegals with legal workers so it helps with job creation. So far the administration has brought in millions of dollars and audited almost 3000 businesses. Contrast that to the silly Bush policy of a few high profile raids, which only rounded up the illegals who happened to be 'on the clock' at the time and did nothing to punish the companies or deter the bad behavior. Just sayin'... it seems like a far more prudent way to handle the issue.

  11. Dear Idiot (may I call you that - you may call me Old) - the law for auditing employers and the fines and firing illegals has been on the books for years. I'm glad someone is finally enforcing it. About 40% of our community colleges in Florida have been audited over the last 15 years - and were clean except for unintended violations.

    And I agree - "gringos" do not necessarily make good workers - those who come to earn an honest wage, whether they be Latinos or whoever, sure do.

  12. I spent the autumn of 07 and winter of 08 in Gainesville and there was a running war protest at SW 34th and Archer Road. The problem was that it was old people protesting. In a big college town it was a bunch of oldsters protesting. Where was the SDS when you needed them? Apparently they were around just missing in action on important issues. Yes the SDS is on the FU campus but they are a shell of their former selves.

  13. Idiot,

    BTW: Glenn Beck is here LEGALLY; he's an AMERICAN CITIZEN. Why would you even think of that suggestion to trade him?

  14. I deleted my previous comment because I could not edit it. I edited it and repost it here.

    Idiot, Your "stance" on illegal immigration and their "toughness" is illogical to me. Being "tough" enough to make it into a country while breaking their laws does not equate to me with being "tough" while doing legal activities. If they're "tough", let's see them be patient. That's a "tough" thing to do for them, apparently because they don't do it. "Tough" is more than just the ability to walk over cacti or through sweltering heat. Don't believe it? Ask a U.S. Marine, or a Special Forces guy. They're tough. But they're also patient and they're risking their lives for our freedoms. Not so that the illegals who come over here and denigrate our country, our rights, our laws, and illegally take our money (free medical care, education dollars, housing, food stamps, etc.) to do so. If they're "tough" and you'd trade Glenn Beck in for any of them, then let's see them be "tough" enough to do it the RIGHT way.

    No one who does NOT come here the LEGAL way "deserves" (your word) to stay. If they are here from Australia, from France, from Canada, from Mexico, from Brazil, whatever: they do NOT DESERVE to stay if they are here ILLEGALLY. Breaking the law does not bring deservedness; it makes you an illegal alien and you should be deported at the earliest possible moment. If someone can't come here and respect our laws by coming here the LEGAL way, then why would we want them here in the first place? My great-grandparents came here the legal way; I have the right to be here because of it. When those who wish to be here are coming over legally, they have a right to be here, too. Those who break the law to get here are just criminals and we don't need more of those!

    A population of criminals is not a nation: it is a national prison. Think the founding of Australia. Our freedoms will be obscured in order to control the criminals amongst us. The more criminals, the fewer freedoms we have. We have seen that since 9/11. Wake up and smell the bacon burning. We have lost enough freedom. We have lost enough of our children's freedoms. Tying the freedoms of the law abiding CITIZENS in America is NOT an acceptable option. Control the criminals crossing the border (as soon as they physically cross the border, they are breaking our laws, therefore are criminals), and the American CITIZENS not only retain more freedom, but we can breathe easier because we'll have fewer people living off of our hard work, fewer people taking jobs under the table and not paying for the benefits they find ways to receive, and fewer criminals roaming the streets.

    Being in America is NOT a RIGHT for ILLEGAL ALIENS, just for AMERICAN CITIZENS. Being here is a privilege and there is no one ENTITLED to be here ILLEGALLY.

  15. Idiot, You're point was valid, so is SCC's reply. We've raised a population that's becoming spoiled by privlege but they're entitled to US Citizenship. We welcome more legitimate immigrants into our country then anyone else on Planet.. Aren't we entitled to say who comes into our country..

    There is another side of the issue that will need to be looked at shortly. It's getting to the point in Mexico that we may have to set up refugee camps and put heavily armed troops on our side of the border.

    Whether Mexico wants to or not they'd better acknowledge that whats going on between the gangs and the army is looking more like a Poncho Villa civil war than a gang fight. There was more last night.
